Android Application development

Android Application development is an efficient and information-rich, training program for students.It is the process by which applications are created for devices running the Android Operating System.

Through a combination of lectures and programming exercises, on different aspects of Android, students with a knowledge of Java, and C++ programming languages can develop Android Applications using Android Software Development Kit (SDK).

Students are trained on basic Android programming and some advance concepts related to Android application development.

Batch - 1

University Career Hub [UCH] organised six days Android App Development Program from 19 th to 27 th January, 2022, for Under Graduate students of various colleges of University of Mysore namely MIT First Grade College, Vidya Vikas First Grade College, Teresian College, St. Philomena’s college with a total of 49 students. The sessions were very interactive.

Having JAVA programming background, the students could complete the assignments given ahead of time. The students were introduced to events like mobile user interface [UI], Event handler, Debugger, Emulator, Real Time Android phone etc. They learnt about movements and navigation, form design, building applications, how to call from application, location based service, Google play service, location permission, current location information using application etc. Students displayed maps and were able to show current location inside the maps, form design, building applications.

By the end of the training, students were able to design and implement various projects like developing apps using JAVA programming language for use cases like hotels, transport facility, cake shops etc.

Batch - 2

University Career Hub [UCH] organised a six days Android Application Training Program from 31 st January to 05 th February, 2022, for the Under Graduate students of various colleges of University of Mysore, namely Sri K Puttaswamy First Grade College, JSS College Mysore, SDM MMK College Mysore, NIE First Grade College and Post graduate students from University of Mysore, Manasagangothri, for a total of 52 students.

Students were introduced to Object Oriented Programming [Oops] concepts namely classes, objects, polymorphism, exception handling etc.

In the later sessions, students were introduced to Android architecture components, layouts and working on layouts by giving various live examples. Students worked on table layouts, data storage - internally and externally, different types of intents explicit, implicit, pending intent, recycler and card views, display maps and show current location inside the maps, different types of services, integrate API using retrofit etc. Students worked on different projects using tourism app, Todo app etc.

End of the program the students were able to create applications using Core JAVA basics and OOP’s concepts.

UCH is about to start an exciting learning journey on Android app development . The actual program will be done in blended mode. The session will be conducted on all days Monday to Friday between 4 - 6 pm online through Zoom, and on Saturdays 9 - 4 pm offline at the University Career Hub.

Regarding pre-requisites:

To attend this program students need to have working knowledge of Programming in C & OOPs. It is important that students complete a self - paced learning on these topics before the actual training sessions starts.

This self paced learning will be video based, the online resource materials, tasks followed by set of assessments to evaluate their readiness for the actual program will be provided by us. Completion of this is important for best outcome of student learning

A *certification of completion* will be provided on the respective course completion.
